"To live is the rarest thing in the world.
Most people exist, that is all."

- Oscar Wilde

HI! I'm Dr. Melissa Wecker.  I was  born in the beautiful rolling hills of Rwanda Africa and raised in Canada and the USA. I grew up in what I consider a very healthy family. We were third generation vegetarian and grew most of our own vegetables and herbs with home cooked meals every day.  My grandfather, father and multiple uncles are doctors. My mother is a nurse and many of my aunts are medical professionals. They are the most talented professionals I know, yet I struggled for over 25 years with pain, chronic fatigue, brain fog, poor memory, cystic acne depression and anxiety.  I struggled through school,  work and most of all living... I realized I was existing, that was all.

My health struggle

As a child through to my mid 20's I had anxiety, depression and chronic pain. My bones ached frequently and conventional lab tests would come back normal, and I regularly took pain meds. My anxiety and depression medications would not work for long and most evenings I would wish that I would fall asleep and just never wake up.  It was an effort just to do the bare minimum of existing.  The turning point came when I tried a  technique called NAET based in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

This lead me to study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a foundation to understanding natural and holistic medicine. I went on to study other healing therapies such as NAET, BodyTalk, Accunect, Neural Emotional Technique (NET) and  Functional Medicine. Through these healing techniques, my pain, depression and anxiety slowly disappeared over the years. My mental clarity improved. I gained motivation and energy to not only get by in life, but the energy to pursue my passions and purpose in life.  And for the first time, I found joy in everyday experiences, in simply being alive.

My Vision

In my practice, I am passionate about blending ancient wisdom with modern science to find root causes, optimize nutrition and restore function at the cellular level.  I see myself as both partner and guide in your healing journey as we work on unraveling a lifetime's worth of issues. I help you discover ways to tap into the healing wisdom that’s inside each of us. I feel that by listening deeply to a patient’s whole story, together we can come up with practical holistic solutions to nourish  life and preserve health.

My Mission

I believe when our bodies are physically, nutritionally and spiritually nourished and provided for at the deepest levels, we can achieve things that would otherwise be impossible. We can effortlessly adapt to the world around us and our cells can provide the additional power we need to achieve a superior level of life. And with every additional person who is truly living their optimal life, the world becomes a more incredible place.

I find joy in traveling

Being born in Rwanda, and growing up with a family that traveled extensively, I have participated in heath education and aid programs in Egypt, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burma, and Albania.  I lived in the UK for 4 years while studying my Bachelor of Honors in Combined Humanities and a Masters of Science in Business Management.  After 4 years of studying my Dr. of Traditional Chinese Medicine I completed a 3 month internship in a teaching hospital in Mianyang city, Sichuan province in China.

Three Teacups
I find my zen...

...in a perfectly brewed cup of Jiaogulan (gynostemma) tea, early mornings in my greenhouse, hiking in the rocky mountains and long walking commutes to work.
